Are any Beanie Babies valuable?
« on: November 19, 2007, 12:50:02 PM »
I have some from way way back when... up to 11 years old, at the beginning of the trend. Most are in mint condition, but I wasn't trying to preserve them in super-crisp tag condition, either.

We were given a few old ones for the baby and I want to make sure they aren't valuable before I let her destroy them. I was thinking of letting her play with my old ones, too. But if it's worth much of anything she really doesn't need to play with THAT stuffed animal  ;)

They are listed on posh alot so I'm wanting to say let her play with them but I honestly have no idea of their value.  I know Kathy collects them so she would probably know.

A friend of mine sells Beanies every now and then, so I know some of them have value, but most don't. I can't help you identify them though, cuz I have no clue.
Flapper Dresses, Unique Flapper Costumes, 1920's Dress, Roaring 20's Fashion, accessories included.

here's a start http://www.barrysbeanies.com/generic31.html  (it's a seller's site and has links to pricing on left column, sorted by name and by type of critter)

LOL and I had just found that site before STeve posted it!

The two new additions are selling for $11 and $12 on that site.. and I found one from my personal collection for $12. I don't remember the names of most and haven't looked them all up. Don't know if it'd be worth trying to sell somewhere, but good to know... lol i won't give the baby the more valuable ones from my own collection to play with.

I only have one, in mint condition with tags and all, and it's only worth $8.95 according to that site. Oh well. It's a cute Christmas bear and someone gave it to me when my youngest was born. Never did let him play with it and now he's beyond bears.  :-(

about everyone hitting the same site: GMTA  :h0161 Or LPCFL (lazy people click first link)

After further research I found my retired bear here:

1997 Holiday Teddy Bear and they have it selling for $21.99 while I also found it for $4.99 on another site.

I think you'd have to either get a collector's guide book on the topic or get ahold of a serious collector to really know what the price would be.

I just had listings for beanies on eBay end and my answer to your query would be "no".  I had 5 individual beanies listed that Mpire said were over $4.00 each AND a lot of 10 for cheap.  1 sold for $3.59.

If you do list them, do it cheaply.

My $0.02,

Thurston

Ooooh Danielle, don't put that albatross on my neck! Sophia collects them, I just foot most of the bill.

My answer to the question would be a big, fat N-O. The craze really ended years ago, and even then so many of each were made that real value was not possible.
