WARNING newest scam
« on: October 26, 2007, 12:28:13 PM »
At least it's new to me.

Got an email
says
Hi, I am very interested in buying the item you for sale on eBay, but dun't know what to think anymore. I saw the same item with the same pictures and description at a different seller. Please take a look : URL  REMOVED TO PROTECT THOSE THAT MIGHT COPY AND PASTE IT
Please call me at : +492089107823. Thank you ! Richard

The url starts with http://cgi4.ebay.
looks good right?
BUT I am all ready logged in at ebay and when I copied the URL into an addy line it took me to a log in page!
After further looking at the URL given there is not even an item number within it!

DO NOT FALL FOR THIS!!

I have broken up the URL here - NOTICE the .com part
http://cgi4.ebay.
loggedin.webhero.com
/ws/eBayISAPI.dll/SignIn/authrequiredn_W11QitemZ180099995083QQcategoryZ14233QQzaZ235QcmdZViewItem.php

Just thought I might save someone from giving out their password!

Yeah, that's sneaky. Everyone, remember that the way you know what site the URL is for is by whatever's just before the ".com".

Good catch, BT!

 :053 Jerks will try anything!
The really sad part is, some folks who aren't too savvy or just miss the weirdness of the URL will fall for it...  :-(
Did you report it to eBay, BT?

I always do.  In hopes that the site is shut down before too many click it.
