Oh my gosh, what a saga! Good thing this gal is documenting the entire story. And, shame on Wal-Mart!

Oh My Word...bless her heart.

Document, Document, Document.
<sigh>

On a side note...I did like the pic of the dog and knowing that she has maintained a sense of humor throughout her ordeal.

Shame on W-Mart.

Yet another reason for me to shop at Target whenever I can.

Unfortunately, it's not unusual for a shoe manufacturer to make an inferior product - they are willing to risk a lawsuit to save about 2 cents per shoe - which does add up.  Look at Vioxx -

Jeez, she could have warned how absolutely nasty those pictures get.  :s0137 I've had red marks from flip-flops also, but I think it was from heat under the plastic straps. It went away when I took them off after an hour or so. Mine aren't from Wal-Mart though, they're from the 99cent store.  :up

"A few of you out there wondered why I would keep wearing the flip flops? That is not what I said, what I said was I wore them here & there for a little while at a time"

"My feet would be red but I just thought it was because the straps were maybe tight, or they were new, or the first flip flops of the year, I chalked it off to tender feet."

"AS SOON AS I REALIZED THERE WAS A PROBLEM I STOPPED WEARING THE SHOES"

Lets see she got them to wear "over a weekend trip to the beach, Long Boat Key April 20th to be exact"
" actually got the stupid shoes in Aprill with a picture in mind then in June I wore them a few times"
"June 22nd 2007 and has just gotten worse basically"
still wearing them
"I have only worn those shoes 15 minutes here, half an hour there, hour there...and so on, NOT enough time to burn my feet like this!"

I DO NOT UNDERSTAND how this is anyone fault but hers.
#1 they were tight
#2 she has tender feet

I always wear my NEW shoes in the house for at least 3 hours straight before I would think of going any place in them.  Last thing a I want to so get sore feet and not be able to do anything about it.

Since they were tight, I am sure they cut in and or rubbed.  WHY keep wearing them out even for 15 minutes?

When you spend $2.44 for something to place under the sole of your foot
why not just toss them if they don't fit, hurt and start burning you!  NOT continue to try to make them work for you!

Sorry, but I believe this person made it a lot worst then it should have been.  Her sensitive feet are the issue.  They fact they were too tight, another issue.  The fact she wear them 10-12 times is just stupid!

I agree. If a pair of flipflops did that to my feet, I wouldn't wear them more than once...even if I thought it was because they were "too tight" or I needed to break them in. If they don't feel good from the instant I put them on my feet, they ain't staying. I have enough trouble walking without providing optimum comfort for my feet.

yeah, if I wore them and my feet got red and swollen...the second time, if it was worse?? I'd darn sure never EVER put them on my feet again.

She's awfully organized about her documentation and it leads me to wonder if perhaps she has a more personal beef with Wal-mart and is seeking to exact revenge on them through a bogus lawsuit. Who knows if maybe she didn't put something on the straps to give herself the chemical burn? I'm suspicious, but that's just me. It doesn't add up... she kept wearing them and she documented it... and she waited a pretty long time to seek medical attention, IMHO. It took her 10 days from the date of the first picture until she started meds. Meanwhile her feet rotted away. Nuh-uh, not gonna happen with THIS gal. LOL

I think I agree with wahm and BTM, I mean that's some nasty stuff on her feet. Who would suffer like that over a $3 pair of flip-flops?  :o

I am chemically sensitive too (can't wear bandaids, lotions etc.) and would definitely know if these were hurting me not to put them on again. I think if they contained some unusual toxic substance that there would be a rash of people complaining, not just one or two. I am picky about my flip flops anyway, tried on some of those Wally World ones and decided the Tar-jay ones are much nicer even though a little pricier.

Sade can you read my mind :o

~LOL~

I hadn't posted but I pretty much was thinking the same thing yesterday when I read this, just didn't want to be the "negative" one so I didn't post my take on it.

I to am also sensitive to stuff like this.  Heck I'm itching up a storm right now after looking at a shipping supply catalog that just came in the mail.  Had a weird chemical smell, needless to say it is no longer in my house.

Did anyone notice the title of the page?

Quote
YET ANOTHER ONE OF MY FOOT STORIES

hhhmmmm wonder how often she has foot stories!

Just because her hand don't have an allergy to latex don't mean her tender feet don't!

The newest person emails her and says -
Quote
I only wore these flip flops once for about 2hrs or so and
then briefly for about 1/2 hr. Trust me I went through it with you.
Mine feet didn't get to the point that yours did but I was miserable
with this for 3 wks or longer. I work for a doctors office and the
nurse here and nurse practioner recomended I use cortisone cream which I
did get a prescription and fill but that didn't work at all only made it worse."
Quote

Another writes to say
Quote
I wore the flip flops for 10 minutes on June 30th and 10 minutes on
July 1st while in the shower.

WHY on earth do this idoits wear them a second time?

Sometimes idiots like me with sensitive skin think, hmm, maybe i'm irritated because the straps rubbed the sunscreen off my feet there and i'm a little burnt, or there was some weird substance on the flops but now that i've washed them good and it rubbed off on me the first time they should be fine...

I often test things to see if it was really the item causing the problem, because I react to so many things. Sometimes it's just a fluke that I seem to react to something when the cause is something else.

Still, for $2.44, unless I had absolutely nothing else to put on my feet, I wouldn't wear those again after getting a reaction like that. That said, I have some really cheap Target flip-flops that rub my sensitive feet a little wrong and don't really wear out, but i do wear them to get the mail, walk on the cold basement floor, etc. But when I get a red rub mark I know it's my own darn fault for wearing them.
