A simply thank you or apology
« on: July 23, 2007, 05:53:05 AM »
A simply thank you can build your business!

Successful people pay attention to the details and look for ways to build better business relationships. When you take the time to send handwritten notes, you will stand out from the crowd for all the right reasons. Your next big sale may come about as a result of your doing business just a little differently.

Send a handwritten thank you or a handwritten apology if the order was messed up.It shows that you care. Everyone is busy and they know that it takes time to handwrite a note. Second, notes stand out among the clutter of technology. How many handwritten notes do you receive on a daily basis compared to emails? Your note is certain to make a positive impact.

How true BT.

When I sell tangible items...the packing slip that is enclosed...I sign it with a Thanks for buying <insert name of item such as beaded top>. If there are any problems, please contact me.

I feel that adding the name of the item in my own hand writing personalizes the sale.

I have gotten some really nice thanks back from customers.

I really liked that when I received a book I purchased. The buyer had either had made for them or made themselves a bookmark with their eBay ID and website. Instant advertising that goes along with the product.

I sign every order's care sheet with "Thanks, Jeri" and I got some cards printed at Vistaprint that say "Thanks for being my customer!"  and gives them a code to use for 10% off their next order, plus has all my contact info on it.

When I mess up an order I do send a hand written note in the box too. They always forgive me.  :h0035

I always do a handwritten Thank you! on some pretty sticky notes that I get from the dollar spot at Michaels.  If I mess up an order (who me??) a gift is definitely called for along with my apology.  Something like a couple yards of pretty ribbon or lace inspires forgiveness too.

I like the discount code idea. I am going to print something up today to encourage people to try another one of my kits.

I always include one of my business cards, a thank you note and a hand-folded Origami trinket, or home made soap sample I buy from someone on etsy. All my buyers seem to like whatever extras I include.

translation please, fred?

I always put a handwritten "Thank you!" and sometimes a little note on my invoices. I think it gives a personal touch and reminds them they aren't dealing with a big corporation, but with a real person that they can contact if needed. I've ordered from bigger companies that have someone handwrite thank you on the invoice and it's a subtle thing but it does make me a little happier when i'm opening the package. sometimes subtle differences in presentation can make a big difference in the outcome, or be what makes a buyer come back to you instead of someone else.

What a neat idea about sending a litle soap..I have ordered things b efore and have gotten a lifesaver or something like that, but I liek the soap idea better.  Thanks for sharing that....Everyone likes to be treated alittle special and receive something free.

Simple reminder on the soap...some folks are allergic to scents. Kinda like when we receive magazines that have the sample strips in them...I start a-chooing if the scent is overpowering.

If they were to open the package and be hit with a scent that made them start sneezing, they would be more angry at you.

My sisterinlaw used to insert a small bit of potpourri in netting in her packages and well, you just never know.

Same thing with candy..never know if your customer is a diabetic, so try and insert a diabetic candy.

If you deal with furriners, throw a few cents of change in the box.  It's neat to get money from other countries.

Great idea BF.

I know when I first started selling internationally, Along with the payment I would receive change/bills from other countries with a note to share with my children.

It was so much fun. <sigh> Those were the fun earlier days of selling on eBay.

My packaging for my quilt kits has become a problem, I have large zip locks that used to work, but the new kits don't fit. So I was thinking it would be nice to pop all the parts into a plain pink, blue or white gift bag with a sheet of tissue paper and some ribbon, then when the quilt is finished they would have a bag to put it in for giving. I was searching for a bulk supply of bags for cheap, haven't found any, so if anyone knows of a great deal on these let me know. If I could get them for a good price it would solve my packaging problem and also be a little extra bonus for the buyer.

another possible place (not sure how they compare on prices for bags and packaging, though) is storesupply.com

I too always send a business card that I have signed with a thank you for your purchase.  I wish I could find some small "alien" to include - I think that would be a "hoot" - or a "bomb" -  :vibes
