Actually, I think home page featured is only $40, but really kinda worthless for two reasons:

1)  Who starts on the home page?
2)  Of those who do, if 500 people are paying for homepage featured out of 12 million ads, and 10 ads are featured on the homepage, you have a 2% chance of your ad appearing for any given customer.
--------------
HomePage featured is about $100 bucks.... i would NEVER do that :-)

$39.95.  Used to be $100 for two or more items (Dutch, FPL), but they lowered that to $80.

Well, hmmm, Freddie ... see where she (the ebay rep) agreed w/ what i said during our online conversation, where I said, near "$100" and she said yep.

Anyway, it just launched... there's only about 30 competings and my daughter's listing gets to be at top and within the page, so she's happy w/ that.

Thank you for your and everyone's input.

The same ebaY rep who didn't have a clue what you were talking about at first.  Look it up.

If she knows you're not interested in it, it doesn't matter whether you're not interested $40 or $100 worth.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but here's a screenshot to put the argument to rest:

I tried homepage featured once for a more expensive item, I saw no difference in final sale price for the one that was homepage featured versus one that wasnt.

I thinks is just a extra charge ebay wants to do :m218 because even if you do that, most people like go to different shops before choose one
:poke and we paid for that extra promotion and the earning is the same or less :-[
so
we stop to do it

MostebaY extra charges are a waste of money.  If they were worth using, ebaY would give them to you free and make the money in higher FVF.

I don't use Featured Plus often, but it has worked well for me whenever I have used it.

I usually have quantities of products to sell, so in some circumstances multiple-quantity fixed-price listings with the extra exposure do better with the added prominence Featured Plus gives you.  Generally, I raise the price by $5, so the first four cover the extra cost.

I should probably use it more.

And since it's been criticized mentioned, I ALWAYS use gallery.  It's a chance to set your listing apart from others right off the bat.  IMO, I believe they see the photo before they read the words and it's the buyer's first impression of what they're buying.  A <somewhat> professional photo, correctly-sized, stands out from most of the competition who looks like they're taking their pictures in a closet with low lighting.

Gallery also helps when I'm selling lots (i.e. here's a listing for 5 laptop drives), so using a picture of several drives shows right away that this isn't just for one drive.

Some people, myself occasionally but rarely, also use gallery "photos" to present wording that can add information or perceived value.

Whatever you can do to get people to click and go "inside" your listing is good.  You can't make your pitch from the search results alone.

I love when people use gallery.  I can skip over their listings completely when I see they're not what I'm looking for.

Me too.  I also skip the ones without any gallery pic at all because I can find the ones I AM interested in more easily WITH gallery pics.

Thanks for a clarification on why sometimes a Featured Plus an work on the sellers side.

My husband prefers gallery listings...I don't know if it's a "male" thing because men are more wired for visual.

I do advanced search via title and description and narrow my searches down and go from there. Sometimes a gallery pic helps and sometimes the item I want doesn't have any sellers using it so I need to take a closer look.

I do find that when selling clothing, especially vintage and retro...a gallery pic a good percentage of the time gets my items looked at more often.
