I can't speak for the quality of it (looks a lot like my cheap one!) but you can get a free pedometer here:

I hear the survey is VERY short.

Well, the last couple of times that I have used my treadmill, I had to stop a little early because of a sharp pain  :'( in left shin. It seems that I have started having shin splints in that leg, and now I can only do the treadmill every other day for a while. I can still do the recumbent bike, (I did 10miles today and increased the intensity to level 5 from level 4 which is what I had been doing.) I can also use the leg press, and I did 3 sets of 10 on each leg at 70 lbs, and then 1 set of 10 on both legs at 90 lbs.

I am pretty sad ::) about not being able to use the treadmill every day, because I really think it has truly made my gait improve in a big way. I am just beginning to walk with a smooth gait, and don't want to lose that. Deborah

Thank You!

I was just reading in a magazine that woman should do 10,000 steps a day.  Wonder how many I actually do :h0162

10,000 steps a day sounds like a lot but I guess they add up pretty fast when you are on the go.

10,000 steps for most people with an average stride, is about 5 miles, according to this site:
http://www.thewalkingsite.com/10000steps.html

So, in other words, average would not include BF! LOL,

The Latin milla passum (1000 paces) translates to a mile, but even in high school, I realized that a kilometer was more accurate.

When estimating distances, I use 3' per step, and it comes amazingly close.

Only problem is that most peoples legs are NOT 6 feet long Fredd. You are probably the only 5'19" member of this forum!!

That's what I was thinking. My short little legs have to stretch pretty far to reach 3 feet. John always measures stuff out using the 3' stride tho. And it's pretty darn accurate for him, too.

On another note, I grocery shopped yesterday and since my legs were feeling pretty good I decided to forgo the electric cart and walked. OMG! By the time I got to the checkout my legs were wobbling and my heart was pounding. Don't think I was really ready for that, but it was exercise. Next time I'm getting the electric cart. They are making stores too big nowadays.

Well I did my daily mile walk - no where near to 10,000 steps tho - I asked my husband for a tread mill on my 40th birthday - and he said "No, it won't get used - you need diamonds" - they don't get used much either - LOL - Bless his heart -  :0240

Great, any exercise is good!  :D! Until I started doing the rehab PT from my knee replacements, I did not do much at all on a regular basis, but now it has to be a lifelong habit for me to maintain the mobility of my knees with their new titanium components.

I went to the health club today and did 10.5 miles on the recumbent bike at intensity level 5, and then did 3 sets of 10 on each leg with the leg press at 70 lbs, and then one set of 10 with both legs at 90 lbs.

Because I was feeling pretty good, then I did 12 minutes on the ellipitcal, which is a new machine for me, so I didn't go above intensity level 3.

I got my treadmill on freecycle - its nothing special but it does the job.  It's manual so I have to work extra hard to make it go :move

I haven't been doing well - too stressed I guess :h0162

Just went to the grocery store today and its way to depressing knowing I have to buy what we can afford and not what is best for us!

I am making sure the kids get their fresh fruits and veggies before I do.  Do you know how much fat is in those Raman noodles :o

I keep saying "think thin, think thin" but the mirror and my clothing shouts "you're fat" :-(

That manual treadmill will definitely MAKE you work. And Anything you can do is better than ZIP.

I have bursitis in my hips at the moment so I am just doing Upper Body work at Cardiac Rehab. 45 minutes of upper body exercise is better than NO exercise. Get the heart pumping and burn the calories.

One thing about those noodles. Check the SODIUM content, it is beyond belief. It makes canned soup look healthy. The kids loved them, then I actually looked at the nutrition info, and not only didn't I buy them anymore I tossed the ones we had.

I hear ya! While on steroids and having to be conscious of sodium and carb intake it just amazed me the amount of salt in prepared foods. Even whole grain BREAD has loads of it.  I ended up cooking everything from scratch using Mrs. Dash and spices for seasoning. Once I got off the steroids and could eat "normal" again, we ordered take out from a local restaurant that cooks southern style food. I was appalled at how salty their stuff tasted. *sigh* back to cooking.  :(

We have to read the nutrition labels on everything since David and I are both supposed to be on low sodium diets. There is sodium in nearly everything, but especially canned and processed foods. We use good spices and have learned to change the way we cook and it does help.
Here is where we love to order spices from, they are not cheap,  but they are fresh, and when you compare the prices for grocery store spices, they are not bad at all. They have the best spices we have found anywhere else, and anyone who we have recommended them to agrees when they buy them as well.
