most highway in the entire US

Especially a problem since several carriers use it as a hub.  I watched a radar of one carrier rerouting their planes around a storm.  Looked like a swarm of bees trying to get into their hive.

It takes a LOT of snow here in PA for that to happen!    :smarty

This state is always getting hammered with something.  About the only thing that comes to a dead standstill is traffic on that day BUT the day before - try getting into stores and buying what you need!  They storm like bees to go out and get things that they think they will need for the next few days.

Truth is!  That the snow plows and salters do a great job of taking care of main roads and hills that would be terrible to use if they are not kept clean.

A few inches here is nothing.  That is one of the reasons I don't want to move anywhere south.  They are not prepared for snow in the least and I hate not being able to get out just to window shop.  I get stir crazy after a few days and need to get out.

A couple of inches can cripple this town. No mail, schools or trash pickup all week. I got 5 inches of snow here followed by 1/4 of ice. This is very unusual. It is supposed to get above freezing on Friday. There are many years that we don't get snow at all, so really there's not a lot of sense in tying up tons of money in equipment that won't be used.

I tried to get out yesterday and got about 3 blocks before I got stuck on a sheet of ice. Abandoned car and walked home. I might try again this afternoon to get my car back home. Going down to 12 tonight.

We had outgoing packages delayed earlier this week - our UPS hub is in Columbia, SC and it was basically shut down on Monday.

No snow here (since December 26) - just cold.

They're finally getting smart and brining the roads instead of salting them.  They can start hours earlier, and the instant it hits, the snow melts, creating more brine.  Better than pieces of salt having to dissolve to be effective.

@Dyar,
Be safe on those roads when you head out again.
My nieces outside of Atlanta are having a ball sledding, making snow peeps, etc.
However, they are ready to go back to school as is their mother whose a teacher.
Be careful!!!

It's weird as they have been saying that the winters are starting to get colder. Just imagine what a month or two of this cold would do to the south. So scary.

Lets just hope this is a fluke and won't happen again anytime soon.

Yes, and there's 4-8 inches in the forecast for tonite and tomorrow. We consider that slightly more than a dusting.

Made me laugh at the dusting comment.
I guess this might be a bad time to mention that my azalea's have added more blooms.
<smile>

I still can't believe your total snow fall in inches.
