Wondering how to disable Google Instant?

"If you don't want to see results as you type, you can turn off Google Instant by clicking the link next to the search box on any search results page, or by visiting your Preferences [http://www.google.com/preferences] page," Google tells users.

They were talking about this on the news last night as if it were new, and I've had google doing the suggestions on every letter I type in the search box for over a month now. Maybe they were using some people as guinea pigs and we just didn't know it.

One blog I read stated that Google had beta tested for the past 3 months with select members. Those that use more Google products, labs etc had a higher chance of being chosen to be beta testers.

I have every single google product there is, I think. LOL

And here I was just thinking they were making changes and not mentioning it. Guess I was special and didn't even know it.

I know I got the Priority Inbox in my gmail before most. <-- I'm liking that more and more.

@stone...ALOT of folks are really disliking the Google Instant..I posted above how to disable. Hope that helps.

@Jeri...ha! When I was reading the article, I was thinking of you. The priority mailbox is proving to be a huge, huge hit...the Google Instant, not so much.

I like the search suggestions that happen as you type in the search box.  Not sure how keen I am on the "google instant" though, because of the pausing that I've had happen while it loads up search results as I type.  Thankfully, it only happens when you're on google.com. I rarely go to google's home page; I do most of my searching from search box that's built  into browser.   It is kinda cool to see the different search results pop up as you type in more words at google.com, though; helps to more quickly evaluate your own site's ranking on different keyword strings and also helps to more quickly narrow down your searches.

Same with me. I recently added alot more browsers, too.

Very rarely do I use straight out www.google.com

Is this supposed to be live for everyone now? If so, I'm not seeing it.

I've had the search term suggestions for a while now, which I like (and it's quickly becoming sort of an internet standard). But haven't yet seen instant search results...

EDIT: Ah, must not be fully launched yet since I don't have any options on my Preferences page.

I don't mind Google Instant, it just takes a little getting used to as I hit enter as a habit.
