What is Terapeak?
« on: June 12, 2010, 12:17:53 PM »
Yes, I have looked at it and tried to figure it out from the site.  The basic plan at $9.95/mo doesn't seem to have many features in the Seller Research section.  The next plan is $24.95/mo which is a big jump.

Of course I'm asking because InkFrog has just added it as an upgrade for $5.00 more per month ($14.95 vs. $9.95) but there doesn't seem to be a trial.  From what I'm reading in the forums, you upgrade and then you stay there--no way to go back down--that doesn't seem very cool.....  Also, I never like to jump into upgrades on the first wave when they are usually buggy!

This is not a bashing post--I plan to stay with IF and I'm not having major hiccups, but I have not done the upgrade, and really don't want to if there isn't a lot of value to it.

I just wondered if a lot of sellers use Terapeak and what I could find out about the usefulness of it, if it is more useful for certain types of items, etc.  I feel pretty confident about my pricing and am not sure how much more info I would get.

Sorry if this is in the wrong place--I couldn't decide if it was an Ebay issue or a third-party issue.

Thanks!    :h0161

IF is currently in beta.  just ask to be signed up and see if it's gonna do what you need.  They're also taking suggestions.

The smart counters are in beta, but IF has just begun their "SmartLister", it is what I think that Becky is referring to. I did upgrade to it. Some things in the lister have moved around, and some things work a bit differently than they used to, but so far, I have not had any real issues at all. The SmartLister gives you suggestions on keywords as you enter a title for a new listing. It also shows links to similar eBay items that have sold recently, as well as recommendations for the best time to end the listing and other suggestions as well.
Hope that helps.

I would think the advantage to the smart lister is direct integration to the lister.

Thanks for the reply.  Not interested then--if I can't figure out all that without paying somebody $5/month, then I'm too dumb to sell on Ebay.

I would like to correct something I had in my OP after reading a later post from Greg--he did tell someone in the forum to go ahead and try it out and if they didn't want to stay with the upgrade, they could go back down.

A few people had posted that they already subscribed to Terapeak (separately from InkFrog), so I was just curious to know if it was something that I was missing out on!  Thanks very much for your time!!

Deborah,  Is the listing page the same for the Smartlister or is it different from the one us $9.95/mo people are using?  I guess what I am wondering is, is it the same lister with some extra options added or is it different like IF1 was from IF2?  Or can you tell?

Personally it isn't going to help me much so I am not upgrading for the time being.  I'm wondering though if down the road those of us that don't upgrade will end up like IF1 users....Use at your own risk!?

Well, I think that it is similar, other than some buttons are moved and things are laid out just a little differently. I haven't had a bit of trouble with it, and have actually taken advantage of some of their suggestions for listing items at a specific time. I usually always list as fixed price, not auction, and three of the things that I listed yesterday sold today, after I took their advice on launching them at a specific time. (However, it is Sunday, and that is typically a good day for sales for me.)
