Hand crafted cache flower pots!!!
« on: February 12, 2008, 10:51:51 AM »
Hello everyone!!  I am new here, and new to the small business world.  I was referred to this wonderful support forum by Suthrnjewl, so I thought I would check it out.  There are so many wonderful online stores here, I feel small and insignificant :'(.  But I will try it out here anyway.

I hand make fabric cache flower pots.  Here is my store: http://www.amysprettypottys.ecrater.com/

Stop by and take a look.

Very pretty! I had not seen cache flower pots before and had to look at the FAQ to see what they were. Of course, these days when I think of a potty it's more like these.

I hope you'll excuse a brief critique. I'd rather say this now while your store is still new, in case you'd like to make a change.

The plural of potty is potties. You might have a hard time getting customers to remember to type pottys. And while you don't have to be a great speller, it does look more professional to have the store name spelled properly unless it's a cutesy thing like Karen's Kloset. If you'd like some help proofreading your store intro I'd be happy to help, but it's the "Potty's" in the logo that is really jumping out at me. The 's would be possessive...belonging to the potty.

When I hear potty, I think of a child's word for toilet. I don't know how many people without a small child have this association, but you might want to take a sampling of people here. What about just using pots? Or if you want to consider more of a name change, we can help you brainstorm.

Take or leave my comments, and please take them in the interest of helping a fellow seller succeed!

How creative and adorable!   :love005

I agree with serendipity about the "pottys" thing. I think of a training toilet myself.

If you would like lots of help from a group of seasoned sellers who have an eye and brain for marketing, be sure to sign up for the "Critique a Week". For some reason we haven't done it recently so I'm sure the calendar is wide open.

I appreciate the critics, good or bad.  Yes, I know that Potty's is not spelled properly. I spelled it that way to look better with the Y's in Amy's and Pretty.  I played with it for a while with both spellings, and just thought it "looked better" with the improper spelling.  And as far as the name Amy's Pretty Potty's, my mom threw that name out as a joke, and it just kinda stuck with me.  I thought it sounded catchy.  If anyone has any other ideas for catchy, cute names though, I would love to hear them.

Thanks again for your replies.  It's always nice to hear opinions from people who have been in the small business field for a while.
