the antibiotics were prescribe for in the first place, they should have been taken until all were gone.

The Ampicillan was prescribed for hubby a few months ago. Sealed in package pills, but he can't take Penicillin, so something else was prescribed. It's all good BF.  ;)

Sorry to read this.  I agree, fevers are nature's way of telling you that your body is trying to fight something foreign. I also agree that they shouldn't be second guessed.  If the temp is high enough (I take my Dr's. recommendation since he knows us best), we go to the doc.  If it's low grade - miserable as it is - we try to sleep, drink fluids, and wait it out.

Everyone has to follow their own body, and their dr's advice, IMHO.

All good info above - and I truly hope you'll take care of yourself and be back to 100% soon.   :l0085

Aw, Sade, I hope you are feeling better. It sux to have that kinda bug...  :sick
I hope if you aren't feeling a good bit better tomorrow that you consider going to the doc. Sooner if that fever jacks up again and stays. Ampicillin can kill strep, but if you haven't been tested... How can you be sure that's what it is? Also, if it's a penicillin-resistant strain, the Amp. won't work. I haven't worked in the ER since early 2000, so I'm not sure what their favorite antibiotic for strep is now. You might need a good ol' IM injection of Rocephin...
As long as the fever isn't out of control, I'm generally with the gang that says let your body burn off the bugs. I used to hear if you don't let your immune system practice on some bugs, it won't have a clue what to do when it really needs to. I believe they are right. Lots of fluids, too. Trite as it sounds, it really is good for you!

Fever is maintaining at about 100. If it gets worse I'll go to the doctor. I googled Strep and it said they prescribe Amoxicillan for kids normally, and Ampecillin for adults. We don't have insurance, and I'd hate to go to the doctor just to have them prescribe what I already have, and be down $100.

yeah, typically amoxicillan or ampecillin for strep (least that's what theyve always given me).    Strep's going around in oklahoma and southern Kansas as well right now.   Hope you get better soon.

I ate a bowl of ice cream last night, and it was wonderful on my throat.  :up Then I took a Tylenol PM and went to bed. I feel better this morning. I think the meds are kicking in. Maybe I can actually get a little sewing done today.  ;)

I'd happily trade. Glad you're better too. I think I might take a nap first. I got DS of to school and cleaned the kitchen, and that was too much. I'm pooped.

Well, fever is gone, alot of my energy is back, the white grossness on my throat is going away, but still tired.

So having said that; guess what I have to do tomorrow? Go ahead... whatever you guess won't be as bad as what it is... considering the way I'm feeling...

Boyscout event for 5 hours-with about 200-300 boys-outside. I have to organize games, and give out prizes. YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!! I can't even talk. Hubby says I'll have a megaphone, but I'm not sure anyone will want to hear what I have to say! :(

Is there any way to get out of it?   It sounds like you are finally on the road to recovery - I'd hate to see you relapse because of something like that.

No, no way out, I was Hubby's last resort, and he has no one else to help him. The people he works with have other things to do, and the BS of A (don't want it to be Googlable) are a potential customer. But I think my role will be changing, I am not organizing games and stuff, NO WAY! I will be in the shade, sitting on my arse, if at all possible.

We were supposed to go to a wedding afterwards, and that's not going to happen. I swear, they are trying to kill me.  :(

Sade,

Do you have boys in Scouts?  BS of A is a bad thing?   :?

I was wondering the same thing?

Christopher joined scouts this year and we have our fist outing coming up at the state park, hiking and then planned activities after that.  We are all looking forward to it :D!

I think she's more concerned about being sick then about scouts maybe :077

Oh D I'm so glad to hear it!  So, you have a Tiger among you?  I hope he enjoys the heck out of it!

After 11 years with my son, this year I started a new adventure as a Brownie mom as well.  We're camping out in a couple of weeks - and she can't wait.  She'll be thrilled (after years of tent camping with my son's troop) to see cabins and running water at the GS camps!  LOL

 No, I just don't want someone to Google it and come up with this discussion of me griping about going to this thing. My son is not in the scouts, but will be going tomorrow. Apparently it's a huge event, at a Camp around here, to get boys to join.

If this discussion could be moved to somewhere else, I'd tell ya'll all about it.  ;)

Absolutely. It would be a blast otherwise. I'm just not up to dealing with that many kids.

I loved my years as a Brownie Den Mom. Myself and two of my g/friends had a blast. There is so much you can do and so many places to plan things.

Hannah and I have very fond memories of our times together doing Girl Scouts. Many MANY fond memories.

I did brownies long before I was married and had kids, it was fun.  But now I have DH taking Christopher, told him that was a Daddy thing :077

We'll do the events as a family but weekly meetings and working out of the book are Dad's job.  What surprised me was the cost of everything.  They are requiring FULL uniform and the website gave me a price of almost $100  :o

We just got a shirt today from a friend and another Dad gave us a book last week so we're getting there.

He was placed in the Bear's so he has to work a bit harder to catch up :up

Sorry Sade  :back2topic and hope your feeling better  :l0085

Is it expensive? Hunter also wants to take karate, and a place right down the road has a great deal for $19.99. You get a uniform and 3 lessons. I figure that's how many it takes to figure out if the kid really wants to do it, and before you spend a ton of money signing up, and then never going.  :up

I signed up for Girl Scouts at 8 I think. I went to maybe 2 meetings, and sold one box of cookies, and I was done.
