Let's Get Moving! (Exercise & Weight Loss Support Here!)
« on: June 11, 2007, 06:42:27 PM »

Welcome to all our new members, please feel free to join our ongoing exercise and weight loss support discussion!  We hope it will be motivating for all of us!
Deborah

In the past this sort of thing has really helped me to not slack. Let's help support each other as we try to exercise more, eat healthier, and reach our fitness or weight goals.

I'd like to be able to bike 15-20 miles and feel exhilerated, not like I'm about to die, which is how I'd feel right now. Being physically fit is as important if not more important to me than losing weight, but I definitely need to lose weight, too. I'd like to lose at least 15 pounds. I gained 45-50 pounds while pregnant, and the last 15 pounds are not wanting to come off as easily as the first 25 or so did.

Having back problems and it being wintertime helped me get really out of shape, and bedrest really ruined my muscles. I've been trying to take walks with the baby and do other activities with her, and to bear in mind that even tho I need extra calories right now (breastfeeding burns a lot) and have a big appetite, I need to be eating healthy stuff and not using that as license to have an extra helping of dessert.

Today I'm going to get off my butt and try to do some cleaning and organizing. It's not real exercise but it's gonna burn a few calories...more than sitting at my computer, for sure!  :up

Thanks!!

Deborah, I'm so impressed that you rode 10 mph for an hour with those new knees of yours! Many people with their own good knees can't do that. I bet you'll be quite the fit bionic woman when your PT is all done  :up

Well I have at least 30 that I would like to see gone :-[

Of couse I've struggled wiht this for a few years now and I've gotten nowhere.  There is always a reason why I'll start next week or something like that.

I know what I need to do I just can't seem to do it.  Of course right now I've been eating alot of Raman Noodles cause they were on sale 10 for $1.00.  When I stop at the produce stand I'm limited on what I can buy and I make sure the kids are getting their fruits and veggies first.

I've got everything I need to do Weight Watchers (got it on Posh) and I did good for a few weeks and I was feeling better in just that short time.

I've passed up invites to the beach with friends along with pool invites.  So my weight isn't just my problem its getting in the way of family activities and that's not fair to the kids :-(

I just walked about a mile and I am off to central Park tonight for opera in the park so that means more walking. My problem is when I get there we have so much food it like a feast. I will finish off my night with a bowl of ice cream. I really need to get back to the gym and on my mountain bike. I rode about 10 miles yesterday but I don't do that everyday. I am going to the gym tomorrow though.  :h0035

PS Danielle what are you doing in this thread.  8)

Since I'm stuck here on earth I'm going to work on my weight here ;)

Alexandra and I are going to go on a walk later today. I'm also planning a trip to our huge sprawlmart, which could easily involve a mile or more of walking.

Now that I said we're walking today, I have someone to account to. Maybe I can come back and post that I walked further than usual! And the baby should enjoy it.

Enjoy your walk :077

It's a rainy day here so no walking, no swimming.  My legs are sore from the exercise I've done in the pool these past few days.  I kinda made up my own thing using the noodle, leg lifts, crunches, upper body twists, stuff like that.

Maybe I'll try the treadmill today :move

That's great Anne, I am glad you committed to walking today.  :D

Danielle, those pool exercises sound wonderful, I wish I could get back in the PT pool, but they want my balance to improve before I try to walk on those slick ceramic tiles at the pool and dressing room area! Working out in the water is always much easier with arthritis, and I came to love it before my surgery. I am sure that if you get time to use the treadmill, it will make you feel as if you still were able to accomplish something for yourself, despite the rainy weather!

I am home alone, as David had a long day of appts at Cleveland Clinic, and I did not want to go along, (although it would have been a LOT of walking, it was not the exercise that I need to do today.) Hopefully, when he returns, he will still feel like taking me to work out at the health club for my time on the recumbent bike, leg press, and the treadmill. If not, I will try and do a little walking outside, but since we live in the country, we don't have sidewalks, and my gait is not too steady yet, so I really hate to risk falling out there. If nothing else, I go to PT tomorrow at 11, and she will work me hard I am sure, just like she did yesterday! She added several new balance exercises yesterday with the sport cords, slant board, and balance beam, I could really feel those muscles this morning! :poke

We didn't get to walk today. :(  I was on the phone a lot with job stuff early on, then we got a thunderstorm in the afternoon. It cleared up in the evening, and had cooled off, too, so I wanted to walk...only to find the stroller was in the back of my car, which Mike had taken to Cleveland.  :m218

Now I owe myself a walk.

You need a pack carrier, it's better to walk with.  Plus with the added weight you burn more calories then pushing something on wheels.
