OK, which idiot did this?
« on: January 31, 2012, 09:49:23 AM »
Using Windoze Xtremely Poor, IE 8, when there's a new update, you get a notification that the machine needs a reboot  [now] [later].

If you choose [later], it tries again every 15 minutes, and when it starts again, you've lost all your tabs in IE.

Just another incentive not to use IE.

Is there a way to fix this so the user controls reboots, or IE works like a real browser?

Hmmm...I only get the notification once, and that's it.
Then when I hit shut down, I receive a notice again of the update.
I update with instructions to 'puter to shut down afterwards.

I'll check my setup later.

I'm not on an XP right now so I'm using IE 9 so I can't look.  Go to Internet Options, there should be an option there.

I don't let Windows automatically download updates but tell me when they are available and do them once I am doing nothing else so the restoring of tabs isn't important at that point.

I have mine set up like stone. I get notified of updates but can choose when to install them and do the reboot.
