Dear [eBay ID],

We are pleased to announce the new eBay Stores Experience, featuring templates to update the look of your Store and enhanced search results to improve your buyers' shopping experience.

    * New Store templates: Sharp, professional designs and merchandising features will help you attract and retain more buyers.

    * Enhanced search results: Searches within your Store will include titles, categories, item specifics, and even similar keywords for more relevant results.

    * Consistent experience: Buyers will enjoy a more consistent, streamlined buying experience throughout eBay.

Any time between now and the end of March 2009, you can preview how your Store will look in the new eBay Stores Experience. After March, all Stores will be automatically upgraded.

We strongly encourage you to preview your Store soon, especially if it is heavily customized because some of your customizations may not work in the new environment. During this transition period, you can continue to use the current Stores experience as you optimize your Store to take full advantage of the new program.

Don't wait for the automatic upgrade--preview your Store's new look now. For more details, please see our frequently asked questions.

Best regards,

The eBay Stores Team

I haven't looked yet. I'm afraid.

Again, it's not on the Announcements page at eBay, which irritates me. This e-mail came yesterday. Checking the site should be the #1 way to verify if an e-mail is legit...

General Announcement eBay New Stores Look

Any time between now and the end of March 2009, you can preview how your Store will look in the new eBay Stores Experience.  If you like what you see, you can opt in to the new experience right away.  After March, all Stores will be automatically upgraded.

Note to Store Sellers:  We strongly encourage you to preview your eBay Store soon, especially if it is heavily customized.  We’ve worked hard to ensure that most eBay Stores will upgrade seamlessly, with little or no modifications required by sellers.  Some heavily-customized Stores may require more manual modifications, however. Through March, you can continue to use the current eBay Stores experience, while you optimize your Store to take full advantage of the new experience upgrade.

My store works fine in the preview.  That is a relief since I paid to have my store designed for me about 3 or 4 years ago.

I'm confused. I don't see any differences except for minor cosmetic changes. Weren't they going to get rid of the category menu on the side?

Minor template tweaking, "price + shipping" in the sort options and the "New Arrivals" box now has manual scroll arrows. Those are the only differences I'm seeing.

Did I just imagine that the store layout was supposed to change fairly drastically? Like the side column disappearing and only x-number of main categories were going to be displayed?

When you folks are previewing your own stores are you seeing any considerable differences?

Oh, I think I figured it out -- the changes I'm thinking of are for the individual item pages, I guess? I was only looking at the front page of the store.

Yep, I think you're right.  Yeah, I liked the New Arrivals when it auto-scrolled.

One can put their own code in a promotion box which has possibilities.  I know one can put a scrolling gallery in a promotion box, as I tried it with a gallery from:
http://www.auctionpixie.co.uk/  Pretty ugly, though.
