Forum is up for grabs only to someone I trust.

Retirement from eCommerce is coming and with it goes this forum.
Hope to be only doing a holiday season after this year.
Just cause, I can't give it up. <smile>
And the tax write-offs.

I'm going to turn off the lights and close the door on my way out.

Amazon Vendor Discussion - Reddit

From Reddit:
Some of you may have seen these two news articles dating from December:

Can anyone find more information on the "One Vendor" program that's being referenced? Consolidating Seller Central and Vendor Central sounds like it could potentially be a company-killing disaster for anyone that resells branded products, like etailz, bigfly, et cetera.

I'm curious to see what the broader community thinks about these changes; I know there are some individuals in here involved with fairly large companies that run on similar business models, and I want to know what they think of this sort of discussion. Thoughts, anyone?

I checked source on the email.
The IP and all info square up that it's from Amazon.
Email doesn't have Hello <insert business name> but that isn't always the case with communications from Amazon.

If a seller hasn't set up 2 step verification... this is the time.
Why didn't  they use the https as opposed to http (security issue?)
Also, for goodness sakes shouldn't this be sent through notification on the site... the message center.
Yep, I would've had a punch to the gut scare moment with a red flag, but gimme a break...they sent an email.

Wondering if I should change password, even though we're told not to.

Amazon Plans to Split HQ2 in Two Locations

After conducting a yearlong search for a second home, Amazon has switched gears and is now finalizing plans to have a total of 50,000 employees in two locations, according to people familiar with the decision-making process.

The company is nearing a deal to move to the Long Island City neighborhood of Queens, according to two of the people briefed on the discussions. Amazon is also close to a deal to move to the Crystal City area of Arlington, Va., a Washington suburb, one of the people said.

To meet its own deadlines, Amazon will need to move fast. It had said it wanted 500,000 square feet of office space — enough for thousands of employees — available for use next year.

***There is chatter on the world wide web of Amazon into Canada, also.
Amazon just upped the ante in the race for free holiday shipping

Amazon upped the ante by expanding free shipping to all customers through the holidays, with no minimum purchase required. The retail and tech giant is also offering Prime Members free same-day delivery on more than 3 million items. Prime members, who pay $119 a year for the service, already receive free two-day shipping with no minimum purchase necessary.

The battle is real between Amazon, WalMart and Target.
Oh yes, it is.

Keeping your business safe from fraud

At Amazon, we’re creating effective ways to keep malicious actors out of the marketplace and your business safe.
We’ll cancel any order that we suspect of being related to buyer abuse, and we’ll also close the accounts of buyers engaging in fraud.

Amazon Giveaway helps Fulfillment by Amazon sellers increase product awareness and sales.
Giveaway hosts feature their Amazon products as prizes.
We take care of the rest: targeted marketing to customers likely to buy, selection of winners, and shipment of prizes to the winning customers.

We recently launched a new feature that provides sales data for every giveaway created by FBA sellers. This lets sellers calculate the return on what they spend for each giveaway.

Go to Your Giveaways to find the sales data, pick top-performing giveaways, and rerun them using our Copy this giveaway feature. For more information, including how to create a giveaway, go to Amazon Giveaway for FBA.

My opinion: Let's not.
Tax collection for orders shipped to Minnesota State - Effective October 1, 2018

Based on changes to Minnesota State tax law, Amazon will begin calculating, collecting, and remitting sales tax for all orders shipped to customers in Minnesota on October 1, 2018.

Your existing tax calculation settings, order details, and payments reporting will update automatically to reflect this change. No action to your tax settings or seller account is required.

Answers to common questions are available in the Marketplace Tax Collection FAQ. Consider working with your tax advisor to determine any ongoing tax remittance and reporting obligations your business might have.

For more information from Minnesota, see Update for Marketplace Providers.
Free replacements for customers—at no cost to you
from Amazon Seller News

Getting a replacement for an FBA item just got easier for customers. As of September 5, 2018, a customer returning your item can ask to have a replacement sent to them free of charge—and there will be no cost to you.

For you, this means less time focusing on payments and refunds because the sale of the original item is unaffected. For customers, this means more convenient FBA returns, consistent with Amazon returns as a whole.

How it works:

1)    To get a replacement item, a customer starts a return through the Online Returns Center or Customer Service.
2)    If a customer requests a replacement, Amazon ships one from your inventory and asks the customer to send the original item to one of our returns centers. If they don’t send it back, or if the original item is returned damaged, Amazon will reimburse you according to the FBA customer returns policy. See the Replacements section of the policy for more information.

So I lose money at Amazon's cost and another 45 day wait I'm sure.

Walmart eBooks Service
Saw that WalMart had entered the ebook business yesterday when searching out an eBook via an internet search.

The audible/ebook I was looking for was $10.00 less expensive on Amazon.
$10.00 off first purchase via Wal-Mart made them the same.
WMart is going to have to be more competitive on their pricing though.
Not seeing prices I would want to spend.
So I receive this email yesterday from eBay: KEEP YOUR ACCOUNT IN GOOD STANDING - PAYMENT NEEDED
Ummm, nope.
My fees are paid automagically via Paypal.
I know my fees are paid because, I saw the charge go through and noted it in my books the day they went through.

What gave me a start?
It has the exact amount of my fees that had been paid this month to eBay.
Now, I know not to click on any links that come in an email (geeeesh) so I signed into my eBay and then Paypal from another browser.
Just to be on the safe side, I changed passwords at the same time.

All's well, fees show as zero, no messages via my dashboard from ebay.
Decided to visit the eBay forums and yep...
In case you received one (as it appears many have) of these emails:
Another Glitch per Ebay Customer Service Rep.

It was time for me to change my passwords anyway.

Amazon Is Planning Live TV Recorder, Challenging TiVo]Amazon Working on Tablo-Like Networked DVR (Report) <---would love to see this happen
ALL of my children have cut the chord and have no need for traditional cable tv.
I would cut ours in a heartbeat if we didn't already receive everything...EVERYTHING...for the cost of internet.
Plus, there's the write-off of the internet which is packaged with a cable tv package.

THIS: Inc. is developing a new device that records live TV, working around cable providers and encroaching on TiVo Corp.’s market, according to a person familiar with the plans.

The device, dubbed "Frank" inside Amazon, is a new type of digital video recorder for the streaming era. It would include physical storage and connect to Amazon’s existing Fire TV boxes, the living room hub for the company’s online video efforts, according to the person. They asked not to be identified discussing unannounced product details. An Amazon spokeswoman declined to comment.
