Keeping your business safe from fraud

At Amazon, we’re creating effective ways to keep malicious actors out of the marketplace and your business safe.
We’ll cancel any order that we suspect of being related to buyer abuse, and we’ll also close the accounts of buyers engaging in fraud.

Amazon Giveaway helps Fulfillment by Amazon sellers increase product awareness and sales.
Giveaway hosts feature their Amazon products as prizes.
We take care of the rest: targeted marketing to customers likely to buy, selection of winners, and shipment of prizes to the winning customers.

We recently launched a new feature that provides sales data for every giveaway created by FBA sellers. This lets sellers calculate the return on what they spend for each giveaway.

Go to Your Giveaways to find the sales data, pick top-performing giveaways, and rerun them using our Copy this giveaway feature. For more information, including how to create a giveaway, go to Amazon Giveaway for FBA.

My opinion: Let's not.
Tax collection for orders shipped to Minnesota State - Effective October 1, 2018

Based on changes to Minnesota State tax law, Amazon will begin calculating, collecting, and remitting sales tax for all orders shipped to customers in Minnesota on October 1, 2018.

Your existing tax calculation settings, order details, and payments reporting will update automatically to reflect this change. No action to your tax settings or seller account is required.

Answers to common questions are available in the Marketplace Tax Collection FAQ. Consider working with your tax advisor to determine any ongoing tax remittance and reporting obligations your business might have.

For more information from Minnesota, see Update for Marketplace Providers.
Free replacements for customers—at no cost to you
from Amazon Seller News

Getting a replacement for an FBA item just got easier for customers. As of September 5, 2018, a customer returning your item can ask to have a replacement sent to them free of charge—and there will be no cost to you.

For you, this means less time focusing on payments and refunds because the sale of the original item is unaffected. For customers, this means more convenient FBA returns, consistent with Amazon returns as a whole.

How it works:

1)    To get a replacement item, a customer starts a return through the Online Returns Center or Customer Service.
2)    If a customer requests a replacement, Amazon ships one from your inventory and asks the customer to send the original item to one of our returns centers. If they don’t send it back, or if the original item is returned damaged, Amazon will reimburse you according to the FBA customer returns policy. See the Replacements section of the policy for more information.

So I lose money at Amazon's cost and another 45 day wait I'm sure.

Walmart eBooks Service
Saw that WalMart had entered the ebook business yesterday when searching out an eBook via an internet search.

The audible/ebook I was looking for was $10.00 less expensive on Amazon.
$10.00 off first purchase via Wal-Mart made them the same.
WMart is going to have to be more competitive on their pricing though.
Not seeing prices I would want to spend.
So I receive this email yesterday from eBay: KEEP YOUR ACCOUNT IN GOOD STANDING - PAYMENT NEEDED
Ummm, nope.
My fees are paid automagically via Paypal.
I know my fees are paid because, I saw the charge go through and noted it in my books the day they went through.

What gave me a start?
It has the exact amount of my fees that had been paid this month to eBay.
Now, I know not to click on any links that come in an email (geeeesh) so I signed into my eBay and then Paypal from another browser.
Just to be on the safe side, I changed passwords at the same time.

All's well, fees show as zero, no messages via my dashboard from ebay.
Decided to visit the eBay forums and yep...
In case you received one (as it appears many have) of these emails:
Another Glitch per Ebay Customer Service Rep.
eBay Forum Discussion on Payment Needed

It was time for me to change my passwords anyway.

Amazon Is Planning Live TV Recorder, Challenging TiVo]Amazon Working on Tablo-Like Networked DVR (Report) <---would love to see this happen
ALL of my children have cut the chord and have no need for traditional cable tv.
I would cut ours in a heartbeat if we didn't already receive everything...EVERYTHING...for the cost of internet.
Plus, there's the write-off of the internet which is packaged with a cable tv package.

THIS: Inc. is developing a new device that records live TV, working around cable providers and encroaching on TiVo Corp.’s market, according to a person familiar with the plans.

The device, dubbed "Frank" inside Amazon, is a new type of digital video recorder for the streaming era. It would include physical storage and connect to Amazon’s existing Fire TV boxes, the living room hub for the company’s online video efforts, according to the person. They asked not to be identified discussing unannounced product details. An Amazon spokeswoman declined to comment.

What are Amazon Headline Search Ads?
Amazon made Headline Search Ads available to third party sellers in Seller Central. Up until this point Headline Search Ads were only available in Vendor Central through Amazon Marketing Services. If you use Seller Central you have likely noticed that Headline Search Ads are now available to you, but you might be wondering how exactly this type of advertising campaign works and how best to use it.

2018 Holiday Selling in Toys & Games on

Wow! Seems like the notifications keep getting earlier and earlier.

Dear Seller,

As a reminder, in order to maintain a great customer experience this holiday season, we have established holiday selling guidelines for the Toys & Games store.

Only the sellers who meet the criteria listed below will be eligible to sell in the Toys & Games category from October 17, 2018 through January 05, 2019.

•       Your first sale on has to occur prior to August 18, 2018. The sale does not need to be specific to the Toys & Games store.
•       You have to process and ship at least 25 orders from August 01, 2018 through October 01, 2018. The orders do not need to be specific to the Toys & Games store.
•       Your pre-fulfillment cancel rate for the period from September 01 through September 30, 2018 has to be lesser than 1.75%.
•       Your late shipment rate for the period from September 01 through September 30, 2018 has to be lesser than 4%.
•       Your order defect rate has to be lesser than 1% short term as of October 01, 2018.

Orders that use Fulfillment by Amazon will not be subjected to the above criteria provided your account is in good standing.

You can find your cancel rate, late shipment rate, and order defect rate in the Performance section of your seller account. If your account does not meet the above criteria, we encourage you to take corrective action to ensure your eligibility to sell in the Toys & Games category this holiday season.

Eligibility for selling in the Toys & Games store is determined separately for each country. If you sell in multiple marketplaces, your account will be evaluated for each country.

We will provide a final notification about your eligibility to sell in the Toys & Games store by October 11, 2018. Beginning October 17, 2018, we will monitor the performance and listings of the sellers who are approved to sell in Toys & Games store during the holiday season.

Amazon Services reserves the right to cancel listings, remove selling privileges, and prohibit the sale of specific products to maintain a great customer shopping experience.

Here are some steps you can take to remain eligible to sell in Toys & Games store throughout the holiday season:

•       Monitor your performance metrics and take corrective action when necessary.
•       Use Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) to ship products to customers.
•       Check your orders frequently in the Manage Orders section of your account.
•       Minimize order cancellations and display the inventory for sale that is available to ship.
•       Ship orders and confirm the shipments in a timely manner.
•       Ensure your seller policies are up to date.
•       If you work with outside drop-shippers, solidify their SLA commitments for providing prompt shipping confirmation.

Thank you for selling on Amazon.

Amazon and start-up Xealth are planning a pilot where doctors would 'prescribe' products to be delivered after patients leave the hospital

Amazon, Providence and Xealth are working together on a pilot which could launch in months, according to two people familiar. <-----

The idea is to "prescribe" medical products and services to patients before they're discharged. The products would be fulfilled by Amazon or another e-commerce company, and Prime members could get discounts.

That helps Amazon court a new demographic: Those with complex medical conditions, new mothers, and people recovering from common procedures and surgeries.
