Amazon shipping question
« on: December 16, 2010, 04:17:46 AM »
I bought a pattern on 12/12.

I got an email from Amazon.com
says ...
Delivery Estimate: December 17, 2010 - January 04, 2011 This shipment was sent to:

OMG ... the 17th to the 4th  ... really?  that's like 19 days!  More then a half a month.

is this normal????

I'm not normally an Amazon shopper.

I wish Amazon would quit with those notices.  As I have pointed out to buyers with similar questions, if it took my employee that long to ship something, they'd be fired.

BT,
Remember that 2 of those days are holidays.
Plus, there are weekends that need to be included.
It seems like a long time to me, too...is the delivery international?
Anyway, Amazon factors all of the above dates into the delivery date so the buyer doesn't get antsy their package hasn't arrived.

I realize 2 days within that time it should arrive are holidays.
BUT
I always thought Amazon demanded immedate shipping by the sellers ... not 5 days after it was ordered

NOTHING I can see shows this seller to be international BUT I don't know where to look.

Antsy?  They are causing it.  Honestly 19 days in shipping time ... are they walking it here?

I'm not concerned about the seller, really.  It's this email from Amazon that I think is crazy.

What day did it actually ship, BT?  Should've been no later than the 14th.  If it shipped on the 14th, January 4th would be three weeks from the date of shipment.

And if they're giving it up to three weeks to arrive, it's almost GOT to be international.

It's Amazon's version of "allow 6-8 weeks for delivery".  IOW, "don't bug us or the seller until Jan 4".  You'll likely have it by tomorrow.

Probably CYA for Amazon since they have to handle refunds, etc...

I looked at a couple of my recent orders, and neither one shows the seller's location.

The seller's location is part of the original listing - "Ships from......" - so if you can use the seller's ID to check their storefront/other listings, you should be able to find out that way.

And you can see if the seller has shipped (but not the date) by going into your orders in your AZ buyer account.  There'll be a list of your recent orders, and over the thumbnail image of each item ordered it'll say SHIPPED or not.  And if you look over to the right above the "contact seller" button, your tracking information will be there, if it exists.

If the pattern was listed as media, this sounds like a media mail time frame.

It doesn't sound like it's shipped.

And I'd be PO'd too.  Not answering me is a surefire way to do that.

I thought Amazon DEMANDED fast shipping by the sellers.  Not speed of the postal service BUT getting it out in the mail FAST.

Still not one word from the seller.

Seller does have 100% feedback rating.

I have received two other items ordered on different sites the same night that I ordered this item.

at this link it should say either "shipped" or "shipping soon"
https://www.amazon.com/gp/css/history/orders/view.html?ie=UTF8&ref_=ya_orders&

I've got an item ordered from 3rd party on the 15th that still hasn't shipped :(

In Books "Standard shipping" on Amazon usually does mean Media Mail and I'm assuming it means Parcel Post in other categories so maybe 19 days is just to allow for the slowest shipping method?
