Flu shot surplus?
« on: November 11, 2010, 11:06:39 AM »
I find it interesting that last year when they finally got enough supplies, they ended up throwing away a bunch of flu vaccine that expired, and were begging people to come in and get their shots.

Now, I see Krogers has dropped their fee from $25 to $19.99, which is kinda surprising, since lots of their customers would be covered by Medicare/medicaid.  Maybe there's a big surplus of vaccine again this year?

Aren't you a nurse, or am I thinking of someone else?  I thought health care peeps were almost required to get the various shots.

Vit C and Vit D, both in appropriate amounts.  That's my flu shot.

Technically, I am - I do have to maintain the nursing license, because I do electronic medical record support for nursing staff. But I have done no patient care in 2 years now, since I left the hospital to go to the same corporation's IS/IT division.
They 'offer' us the flu and pneumonia shots and push them, but evidently they can't make us take them, or any of the other vaccinations, or I am sure they would. The only thing they told me and DH even when we were both at the hospital was that we would be on some list if there was an outbreak of whatever we were not vaccinated for (like measles, not the flu).

I see today where the one-man pharmacy across from Walgreens and a block from K Rogers has flu shots "now $17.50" on his movable type sign.
