Title: Dancing my heart out and my @#$ off... literally
Post by: ITSDF on November 07, 2010, 11:37:18 PM
Hi Guys -

This is a totally personal post - nothing to do with work or websites.  I put it in health and fitness because I am excited to say that I in order to fit into the blue /gold dress I have on in these three videos I have recently lost 23lbs! ( I still have 47 more to go - but hey - I'm excited that I finally was able to wear this dress - it has been my dream dress!)

Although the flip-cam says these were a year ago- they were actually from my dress rehearsal Friday ( competition is this coming Thursday).  Life has been crazy lately, but the one thing I've tried not to give up is my dancing because it really feeds my soul.

So here I am - a foxtrot, a waltz and a quickstep.  (I think there is a tango on there too - but I am not in it).

Ellen, you are an angel gliding as if on a cloud. Your beauty and grace and a pleasure to behold. I'm happy for you that you fit into that blue and gold gown. I know it means a lot to you.  :heartB

Thanks for the kind words   :h0161

I really love dancing - by the time we got to the quickstep (19) I was huffing and puffing and I think it shows in my face - still working on my endurance - but I'm getting there!

Wow, you were really great out there. I would have been stepping all over feet....lol It's amazing how people can dance like that with their feet so close together and never step on each other's feet. I just watched the first video, but sure was cool.

You are the epitome of grace and beauty.
Beautiful dress and even more beautiful woman wearing the dress.
I'm really, REALLY impressed with your dancing.

Ya know what?
I've heard from others how ballroom (any type of dance lessons) enabled them to lose not only a few pounds, but sometimes 2+ times the lbs.

And the cardio is great, too!

Keep it up and thanks so much for sharing!

Thank you all so much for the kind words and encouragement!

Night- Wish I was dancing with a husband...well I suppose I am, but it's someone elses  :P  That is my instructor! I walked into a dance studio and signed up for lessons.  I had always wanted to learn and had spent a lifetime saying I would wait til I had a boyfriend or husband that would go with me.  That wasn't happening so I decided it was time to stop putting my life on hold for a man, and I walked in and signed up!

Hearing all your kind compliments and finally feeling good about my dancing is a nice place to be.

I would encourage anyone who has ever wanted to do it to take lessons - it's fun, social, and great exercise. Just as great as the dancing are the amazing people who I see every Friday night at social dance parties.  I'm sure your local Fred Astaire or Arthur Murray or independent studio has some kind of into package - treat yourself and try it - just don't blame me when you get addicted.  :love005

I'm so intrigued!   There is a ballroom dance studio opening just off island.    :)

Older men who can dance have an interesting job opportunity.

Since women outlive men, cruise ships will provide free cruises and pin money to guys who can be dancing partners to women cruising alone.

No kidding - Male dance hosts are in high demand!  Men can make big bucks and get a lot of free vacations - cruises, etc. if they know how to dance!
