U.S. FBA fee changes - effective February 22, 2018

As in previous years, FBA fees in the U.S. will be adjusted to reflect the changing costs of fulfillment, transportation, and customer service. The new fulfillment fees will take effect on February 22, 2018. We are notifying you now to give you time to plan for these changes.

FBA is introducing the following changes:

•   Fulfillment Fees: We will adjust our fulfillment fees for most product size tiers and weights. The adjusted fees will apply throughout the year, and we will no longer have a separate rate for October through December.
•   Dimensional Weight Calculation: We are adjusting the way we calculate dimensional weight to align with current industry standards. Currently, dimensional weight is calculated as the unit volume (based on length x width x height in inches) divided by 166. Effective February 22, 2018, we will calculate dimensional weight as the unit volume (based on length x width x height in inches) divided by 139 (instead of 166). The dimensional weight is only applicable for large standard-size items weighing more than 1 lb. and all small, medium, and large oversize items.

FBA inventory storage fees are not changing at this time.
We will announce changes to these fees in early 2018.

My initial review determined we won't have too much of an issue since most of our products are on the smaller and lighter side of things. So, we fit in the small standard category which won't change in price for us. That will be nice come Christmas time when I want to ship a lot of FBA stock ahead of time to  minimize stock-outs.

Yep.
I had to work with Amazon to have some items 'remeasured.'
They were showing them as over-sized/weighing more.

Uh-huh.
These are smaller items that self-fulfill buyers had the weight scad high and measurements larger so they could pocket more money on shipping.

Took quite a bit of work over the last year, but feel like I made some lead-way.

I wish they'd let me run Amazon.

The first thing you could do for me (after you take care of your needs) is to help straighten out the categories. So many things listed by Amazon retail that are classified as "books". However, they are either office supplies, health, etc. I think Amazon retail did that just so they could collect an extra 1.80 per unit sold.

When I'm appointed by the board of Amazon to run the company, I'll jump right on it!

I have been slowly working on that for the last year as I come across them.
Anyway... if there is anyway I can help...lemme know.
I'll take on the task.
Either private message me here or I think you can see my email address.
I'd be hap-hap-happy to do this.
Time consuming?
Yes.
Worth it?
Yes, to all sellers not just us.

The new sellers are killing the catalog.
And old sellers that know how to circumvent Amazon do too.
I don't have time for dishonesty.

Yes, newbies are the worst. Especially if they come from "that other site".

These pages that I've been working on have been created by Amazon, as they themselves are selling on many of them. However, I have had success getting two changes so far. Slowly working my way down the ever-growing list.

I won't have time to really dedicate to cleaning up stuff until May. On top of selling here and teaching at the college, I am doing taxes this year. I can't wait for April 15th already. Ha!

Our accountant is eyes crossed slammed with all the new changes and how many of those will be tweaked, changed or cut back down the road and how all of this affects his clients.

We rented an airbnb recently.
Young kid owns it and is an accountant.
He said the firm he works for is swamped with emails, phone calls and clients waiting in the office to see them regarding the new tax bill.
He said all of the above on top of tax season?
Crazy.

Best of Luck to you in the upcoming season.
