You can have it. Don't need any more Amazon stuff here in Ohio. YOUR state can give all the tax breaks. I don't want to see the quality of life or the community atmosphere change. Much better than the really BIG major cities/population centers.

I don't live in the really big major cities...close enough, yet far enough to have a much more laid back life.
I do like Tampa/St Petersburg and north of Orlando though.

Tulsa is trying hard to get it, saying how great our state and people are.  Lessee - crappy internet unless youre in downtown area, it's still okay to fire ppl here for being gay, even though we have an intl. airport, air service is pretty lacking, and mass transit is virtually non-existant.  Yeah, sounds like a place Amazon would love to open up shop, not. ::)

They need internet.
Not spotty internet.
Really, excellent internet.

Amazon from my research tends to go more rural than metropolitan as long as it's near rail, airports and interstates.
Right?

From what I've seen, they like a mix of rural for larger facilities and outskirts of metro for same day deliveries, but I haven't studied their more recent acquisitions very much.

One of their early warehouses was an old textbook warehouse just outside of Coffeyville KS. It has rail and a small two lane highway to Tulsa (about an hour and a half drive).  The highway is now 4 lane the entire way. It was only 4 lane, 2 lanes each direction, for about 1/2 of the way, when Amazon bought the place. Amazon isn't using that warehouse any more, though, which seems odd to me since it's centrally located in U.S. (which is what appealed to them when they bought it).

We have one in Lakeland.
I wouldn't call us rural with close to 175,000 residents.
BUT, we do have excellent access to I-4, airports and trains.

Now Ruskin, FL....used to be rural but has close proximity to rail, major roads, airports and trains.

On Reddit the other day in the FL subreddit a pic was posted of an Amazon plane (similar size as FED EX/UPS) at Tampa International Airport.
How kewl is that?

On recent trip to Okla City, I got passed by an Amazon semi. Amazing to see how far theyve come since the early days of selling books online.

I know. I know.
I look back over the 10 years I've been with Amazon and go WHOA!
All of this in 10 years?
And then I think....I helped Amazon build this!

Didja see the new fees that are coming up?

I've been out of town since Monday (hubby's 1st appointment with the transplant team...went real well) and need to catch up with EVERYTHING!

I'll post later as I saw it in headlines.

Thanks for posting the article.

I was reading yesterday about Amazon's 'maybe' 'perhaps' might be buying Kohl's and Target.
I had assumed that Amazon would move forward with the purchase of Kohl's now that they are 'officially' in the stores. (local AZ returns available)

The talk around town is that Amazon wants the young woman purchase power.
Supposedly it is one of the reasons Amazon purchased Whole Foods. (merely one of the reasons)

Target would get them the coveted youg mother demographics.

Both good reasons to go forward with purchasing.
Not good reasons for upping our fees.
