What does everyone think of CityMax?
« on: August 02, 2007, 05:43:31 PM »
Set aside the fact that they charge for it--even though it's not that much--I'm sure that's a turn off for a lot of people.

Other than the cost, what are the pros and cons with the site?   :ct0559

I don't use CityMax, but I am moving from www.highpowersites.com, and they are a CityMax reseller, same technology.  Stay away from them, their servers are unreliable, the pages load slow overall, no FTP for images/files...all in all, a big PIA for the $$.  CS stinks, and they argue non-stop that the continual 503 error messages are an "ISP problem" on my end despite the fact my statcounters clearly show a drop in pageviews when these messages appear.

In fact, if the company advertises they use Website Dynamics - run like h-e-double-hockey-stix!!

Here's some other reviews:

I decided to take the big jump, and signed up with NWS and monster commerce.  A lot of money per month but man, the bells and whistles are fantastic.

I was thinking about it, but am leaning towards not.  I figure why when you can have an ecrater store for free.   :ct0559

I have an ecrater store, too, and I can guarantee Ecrater's server uptime is 200% better than CityMax!!!!

I know of one person that used them...efashion. She stayed two months and moved on as it didn't generate sales.

I did look into Citymax...it allows html and that part I like.

Ecrater=Free

I went with free.

With all the negative stuff I'm hearing, I'm surprised CityMax is still around.  Something has to be keeping them going.   :?

I like the free of ecrater.   :ct0559

I think Citymax can work successfully na does works successfully for many...only if a person wants to do lots of work marketing.

I decided that if I were going to work hard at marketing a site...I'd rather the site be for free vs pay.

Obviously, free is better.

I was wondering why people would go through CityMax and if they did how did it work out for them ---- was it positive, negative ---- so far have heard the negative side.  Now I'm wondering what's keeping them going since I haven't heard but one positive.

The positive is they're simple.  Buy the sizzle, not the steak.

At virtually every event, Damon's wins people's choice for BBQ ribs.  Which is a pretty slick trick, since you can't make BBQ ribs without a smoker.  But as long as people don't know the difference between boiled and grilled ribs with BBQ sauce on it, they'll do.

Bingo is your name-o, Fredd, you hit the nail on the head.

Free is not always better, but...free, easy, and good Google PR is great, and that's Ecrater in a nutshell.
