I just want to say how impressed I am with everyone's commitment to their own personal goals. Deb, you are especially inspiring!

I would love to exercise -- not to lose weight, but just to get fit and keep from losing any muscle mass due to inactivity.

My own personal goal is to walk once around my yard (3/4 acre) per day. That might not sound like much, but right now it's like climbing Everest to me. From the knees down my legs are rock hard (due to spasticity) and ache and burn constantly. I totter on my cane and hobble wherever I go.

Just to make it once around the yard is all I'm hoping to do. Then I'll flop down in the lawn chair and work at catching my breath.  :P

Right now, from the front door to the mailbox is about the best I can do. Everyone has their goals -- let's reach them together.  :up

Jeri, just the fact that you are entering those clinical trials for the MS drug, shows how commited you are to your health and fitness! If walking to your mailbox is a challenge, and yet you still do it, then you are way above others who never challenge themselves. I am proud of you and am  :cl you on! Deborah

I had not heard of that weight loss drug. As someone who used to chronically suffer from those kinds of "unpleasant side effects", I'd much rather be overweight than have my system (not) work like that again. At the same time, it's a pretty powerful incentive to avoid foods that cause those consequences. In my case sometimes it was just because my system was malfunctioning as usual, but once i figured out foods more likely to contribute I sure as heck avoided them. That included fatty foods, certain ingredients, and certain ingredient combos. To this day it doesn't matter how wonderful a scoop of ice cream looks...it's not worth the "unpleasant side efffects" if I eat it. Although once every few years when I will be home for a good while and have a good book to read I will eat a little bit, to enjoy the taste...and remind me why I don't eat it. After that gut-wrenching night, I go more years before trying it again.

BTW one of my favorite pizzas is topped with spinach, artichoke hearts, and white sauce. I used to get it in my college town, about an hour from Fred, and occassionally find something close to it up here. I don't remember it having an exciting name.

Anne, your way too young to remember the movie, "Soylent Green!" LOL, Deborah :nana

I got a gooder idee.  Let's go back to bed.  It's the crack of dawn, for crying out loud.

You need to exercise.

Fat cats have health problems too. My girl is obese, and manages to eat her brother's food and hers. I don't think we'll ever be able to control her portions as long as he is here. She's not diabetic but is at risk for it if her weight doesn't go down.

We are going out to eat tonight, and I'm hoping to get in a good walk or bike ride afterwards (if it's not too late and the food is agreeing with me), or tomorrow if needed, to work off some of the extra calories!

If you mean Athens and Avalanche pizza, we're talking about the same place. They opened a second location here in Shermanville.

Have fun, Anne, it has been going from sunny to cloudy here in Lagrange, so I hope you can get to spend that time outdoors. The health club doesn't open until noon on Sundays and then is only open till 5pm , so I plan to go over there around 1pm if possible! Hope Mike and you enjoy his first Father's Day with your sweet daughter! Deborah

I have to get my butt to the gym tomorrow morning. I should probably ride my bike there too. You can all email me and harass me in the morning.

Um pizza, beer and NASCAR today but I did play the Kraft game pad thingie with the kids and I tell you what, my lower butt hurts.  I know I worked some muscles today :up

I've learned to love thin crust pizza full of veggies. The veggies fill you up and the paper thin crust adds a whole lot less carbs.  Plus its allowed on Weight Watchers which I will start full swing in the morning.

I went and worked out again this afternoon at our health club, and did something I probably should not have done. :0195  I tried a new machine today, the ellipitical ski machine.

The reason I should not have done it is because I really did not know how to set it up, and don't really know if it is a machine that they would want me to use. :m218  I used it for only 10 minutes, and it was quite hard. They don't have one at my therapists, so I am going to ask my PT about it when I go there on Tuesday.  I won't use it again before asking her, and if she approves, I will ask her how to set one up properly, and ask her to give me a protocol that I can use to advance on it, like I already have for the machines that I am approved for.  :-[

Other than that, I did 10.1 miles in 40 minutes on the recumbent exercise bike, and did my 3 sets of 10 reps at 70 lbs for each leg on the leg press. I was really tired after today. I think that was because I worked out hard yesterday, and then again today. I feel as if I am really getting stronger every day, and that my balance and gait are really beginning to return to normal again.  :D! That encourages me to keep it up! Deborah

I have been also thinking about following the WW diet plan. I have several of the cookbooks, and I feel confident that I could do it without actually signing up and paying to attend meetings. I will check out the info, and if I decide to do it, maybe we can encourage one another with it! Deborah

Deborah I got all the books and stuff off of Posh, I actually have double of a few things since I purchased two used kits that each had bits and pieces I thought I would need.

I have an extra points slider which I think if you have that you can do WW without anything else.  If you want it let me know and I can drop it in the mail or I can even scan it and you just cut it out and make it work.

Let me know if you want anyWW stuff :077

Way to go, Deb!  :D!

Danielle, I lost 20-25 lb doing WW points with some of my coworkers. Only one was actually a member. It really helped me to realize the impact of what I was eating. Sometimes a simple change lowered points...like eating thin-crust pizza.

I walked tonight. Not a far walk, but enough that I was pushing myself at the end, after working today and having a full belly from dinner. The baby enjoyed the walk  :stroller
