Christmas In July Sales, Prime Day and More 2015
« on: July 13, 2015, 07:45:57 PM »
Amazon Prime Day

To kick things off, a few weeks ago Amazon announced that on July 15th they would be holding a special Prime Day sale to celebrate their 20th anniversary. The sale is exclusive to Prime Members and much like Black Friday, new Lightning Deals will be cropping up as often as every 10 minutes. A Prime Membership costs $99 per year, and gives members a slew of benefits, including free 2-day shipping on thousands of items sitewide.

Walmart's Dare to Compare Sale

In another exciting development, Walmart recently announced that they would be offering more rollbacks that meet or beat Amazon pricing starting today and special "Atomic Deals" will follow later in the week. This does not come as a surprise to us, considering Walmart's Amazon-inclusive Price Matching policy change last fall.
As far as specific deals, both retailers have been pretty tight-lipped, but they are obviously vying for consumer attention; Walmart took a dig at Amazon in their sale announcement, saying that "...the idea of asking customers to pay extra in order to save money just doesn't add up". Walmart also raised the competition by dropping their free shipping threshold from $50 to $35 - the same as Amazon's. In addition, Walmart released their version of Amazon Prime, called the Shipping Pass. It offers free 3-day shipping with a membership cost of $50. The Shipping Pass service is not yet available, however.

Target & Best Buy Black Friday in July
Target is offering their 6th annual Black Friday in July sale, which ends Wednesday.
Best Buy is claiming to have special Black Friday deals starting on July 24th.

Lots of pluses and minuses to the W-Mart vs Amazon.
Pick up at local store = W-Mart
Faster shipping to your door = Amazon

Open to everyone to purchase = W-Mart
Only Prime members = Amazon

I'm looking for other retailers to throw their hats into the Christmas in July sales...how 'bout y'all.

As a retailer, I hope they make binge shopping in July a thing.  Many have tried in the past, but if anyone can do it, it's Amazon, especially with the whole Amazon/Wal-Mart rivalry.

Same here and for the same reasons.
I don't know about most of you...
I'm seeing alot of Prime Day ads on television.
I don't know if Amazon chose to have them play more in FL as it's just so darn hot and makes one not want to get out and about or...
If the ads are playing nationwide at the fast and furious rate for central FL.

I've seen a lot of those ads too.  I think that it will get some people to try Prime for 30 days before being charged the yearly fee.  I am doing ridiculously crazy amounts of business with my FBA.  I am just salivating at what might be in my future (tomorrow).

I heard from a supplier of merchandise to Kohls that Sunday they are kicking off some huge sale
This wholesaler drop ships some merchandise for them and he was told to be prepared as if it were Christmas!

sock monkeys at www.OurSockMonkey.com and of course everything at www.FilthyRichFashions.com

Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, and today is a gift. That is why we call it the present!

jeepers!  And I haven't even seen any Kohl's ads for it.  'Course, I don't watch a whole lot of tv. . .  What I do watch is primarily streamed content.
