We sure dodged that bullet on the FL east coast but I have friends and relatives all up along the eastern seaboard. My brother lives in Annapolis, MD for one.

I certainly hope BETH has moved inland... have you heard anything Donna?

I'm glad FL dodged this one too.  :whew  Sure feel for those who are in her path.  Thanks for the links Donna.

I have some survivor-type guilt but I can't tell you it's enough that I'd volunteer FL for it.  :-[ I think we've had our share and then some. From what I can gather the northeast is completely unprepared for this kind of thing, though. I pray for the darn thing to blow itself out or out to sea. :pray

I'm fine - we're south of the evacuation areas.   We had the hurricane related bands of crappy weather today but it appears to have all passed now.

I worry about the NYC area folks - this storm has a LOT of rain and there are going to be some serious flooding issues.

The pups and I are all prepared for a long weekend - lots of water, dog food and pork rinds! LOL

Seriously Western MA is supposed to get more of a tropical storm - 6+ inches of water and 50-75MPH winds.

We'll hunker down here -I figure we've survived a blizzard, tornado, and earthquake so far this year - we can make it through this- as long as we don't have a surprise volcano we should be ok!

Stay safe, Ellen!

I was just watching the weather channel and Al Roker and a weather lady I whose name I didn't catch were on the beach on Long Island. They were saying they could see the balconies of some high rise behind them and that people were turning their lawn chairs upside down and calling it secure. OMG they have no clue what even 45mph sustained winds can do. The NE is in for a shocker, that's for sure.

@Ellen
Check in when you can and let us know all are safe.
(Pass the pork rinds!)

I'm probably going to change the subject of this thread to Hurricanes of 2011 so we can just check in at one place on the forum.

The tropics are VERY busy churning with storms.

Mmmmm... Pork rinds!  :up Besides being a tasty crunchy snack, they are great 'carriers' for cheese, dips etc when you are doing low carb.  :up  Gives you a break from celery, lol. I have almost two bags of them here right now.

If you do change the thread, would you consider sticky-ing it, until the end of H-Season?

@Suze...No problem.
I'll sticky the thread.

I've always loved pork rinds.
You're right, they're great with cheese, dip, etc...great for my low carb lifestyle.

Quick update -

So far so good.  Looks like we are not going to be hit as hard, but you never know.  The storm won't actually get here til about 2-3pm today.  For now - just tons of heavy rain and a little wind.  Sadie ( my pup) has been insane and bouncing off the walls - not sure if that's different or not for her :0240 my other two dogs seem every subdued.

They say since it was downgraded to a T-storm we should be ok - but the winds can still do damage - so I'll wait and see.

Hope everyone else is doing well and is safe.

So glad when I found out it only hit NY as a tropical storm.  At one point she was a CAT 3 ... things could have been extreme!

I was wondering today if I need to brush up on my backstroke....rained like the devil here for the past two or three days, and tomorrow is going to be some fun I'm hearing.  Going to batton down the hatches on the gazebo tonight for just in cases.     :rotfl
